Port Huron - Feaster C. Speer, 83, died Monday, July 21, 2008 in Port Huron Hospital Following a short illness.

He was born July 4, 1925 in Elberton, GA and has lived in this area almost his entire life.

Feaster was a veteran on WWII serving in the Air Force. He worked at Peerless Cement and served as president of the union there. He then worked for Michcon Gas Company. He was a past president of the NAACP. He also served on the Community Relations Board of Port Huron, the EOC Board and was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Feaster is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughters, Bonnie (Curly) Summers of Port Huron, Mamietta (Donald) Bell of Port Huron and Frieda Speer of Southfield; son, Feaster V. (Marilyn) Speer of Atlanta, GA; step-sons, Scott (Amy) Spencer of Ft. Gratiot and Christopher (Toni) Spencer of Port Huron; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Bessie (Neil) Mason of Port Huron; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Spear.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Alain Mayama will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the service time at church.
