Marie S. Cartwright

Marie S. Cartwright, 82, of Kimball formerly of Warren, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 in Mercy Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born September 10, 1925 in Detroit to the late William and Anna (Osminski) Gillies and has lived here for the past 8 years. She married Joseph H. Cartwright on June 21, 1952 in Detroit. Marie was a member of the Red Hat Society of the Lakes in Kimball and the Golden Eagles in East Detroit. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, traveling and entertaining her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph H. Cartwright of Kimball; brother, John (Martha) Gillis of Holly; brother, Ernie (Sefora) Gillies of Lexington and several nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her twin sister, Helen Digon; sisters, Berniece Hurst and Roseann Flaherty; brothers, Wesley Gillies and Emerson Gillis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twsp. Visiting hours are 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the funeral home.
