Walter Charles Heimbach Sr

March 28th, 1919 to August 24th, 2008


Walter Charles Heimbach Sr, 89, joined his beloved wife of 63 years, Clara and his sons Michael and Daniel in Heaven on Sunday, August 24, 2008. He was born March 28, 1919 in Port Huron to the late Lawrence and Mary (Frederick) Heimbach and was a life long area resident. Walter married Clara Rose Bauer on November 23, 1940 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II as a Military Police Officer. Walter will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Walter is survived by his children, Walter (Sally) Heimbach, Jr, Clara Dolly Post, Mary (Dave) Eagle and Terry (Janice) Heimbach; daughter-in-law, Patricia (Heimbach) Horn; 13 grandchildren, Scott, Kelly, Lori, Michael, Amy, Leah, Sheila, Tina, Jason, Daniel, Alyssa, Jeremy and Lindsey; 13 great-grandchildren including 2 special great-grandchildren Henry and Stacy Sullivan; sisters, Mary Strahler of Arizona and Ann Chisholm of Florida. Walter was preceded in death by his wife Clara; sons, Michael and Daniel; sisters, Martha and Katharine and brothers, Jacob, Joseph and Lawrence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Joseph Gagnon will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Visiting hours are 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Scott and Jeremy Heimbach, Henry Sr and Henry Jr Sullivan, Daniel Eagle and Chris Sills. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael, Amy, Leah, Kelly, Lori, Jason, Alyssa, Tina, Sheila and Lindsey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the charity of the donors choice.
