Charles D. Tetreau Sr., 79, of Port Huron, died Monday, February 24, 2014 in Botsford Hospital, Farmington Hills.
He was born July 18, 1934 in Port Huron to the late Henry David and Anna Marie (Maes) Tetreau. He married Mary Ann Wheelihan on January 29, 1955 in the old St. Stephen Catholic Church.
He was a 1953 St. Stephen High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was employed as a metallurgist with the Mueller Brass Company, retiring in 1994 after 41 years of service.
Charles enjoyed softball, golf, bowling, basketball and camping. He was a member of the VFW May O’Brien Post #8465, Loyal Order of the Moose #158, American Legion Post #449, Marysville, Eagles Lodge #3702 and Elks Lodge 2731 of Zephyrhills, FL.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his three children, Charles D. (Julie) Tetreau Jr. of Port Huron, Debra (David) Scott, Killeen, TX, and Thomas H. Tetreau of Port Huron; six grandchildren, Cory D. (Heather) Tetreau, Christina (Trent) Scott-Stelly, Melissa (Fernando) Scott-Olvera, Todd N. Tetreau, Zachary T. Tetreau, and Olivia Webb; nine great grandchildren, Lesleigh Jade Tetreau, Paige Leanne Tetreau, Kelsey E. Tetreau, Kyle L. Tetreau, Nathaniel Tetreau, Dominic Tetreau, Matthew David Scott, Madison N. Olvera and Katelyn R. Olvera; brother, Denis (Joan) Tetreau of Port Huron; sister, Carol Lambert, Otisville; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Gwisdala of Fort Gratiot, Teresa M. Bennett of Kenosha, WI; two brothers-in-law, Charlie (Kathleen) Wheelihan of Capac and Harold Wheelihan of Marysville; He was preceded in death by his brother, James Tetreau, grandson, Charles L. Tetreau, three brothers-in-law, Larry Lambert, James Wheelihan and Joseph Gwisdala, sister-in-law, Veronica Wheelihan, mother and father-in-law, David and Erma Wheelihan.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 in Holy Trinity Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Reverend Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
