Louis D Booth

Louis D. Booth, 95, of Port Huron Township died Tuesday, August 5, 2014.

He was born May 7, 1919 in Port Huron to the late Dale and Minnie (Sample) Booth.

Mr. Booth served in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He began his deployment in New Guinea and ended on Iwo Shima when the war ended. He was present at the temporary gravesite of the famed World War II war correspondent, Ernie Pyle.

Following his military service, he owned and operated Louis Booth Plumbing and Heating. He also served as the plumbing inspector for both Port Huron Township and the city of Marysville and served on the Port Huron Township planning commission. He retired from the plumbing and heating industry and later owned a Yamaha motorcycle shop in Port Huron.

Mr. Booth was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans #12. He enjoyed training and racing ponies and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his devoted companion, Almeda Werth; children, Michael (Regina) Booth, Marilyn (David) Epps and Lori Mehler; grandchildren, Michael Booth, Robert Booth, Meegan Saghbazarian, Brooke Sucaet, Josh Epps and Dylan Mehler; eight great grandchildren; cousins, Ivan Booth and Wayne Booth; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Treva; and his sister, Mame Guitar.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev Patricia Hoppenworth will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.
