Eugene Loxton

Eugene L. Loxton, 83, of Port Huron Township, died peacefully and unexpectedly on Monday, June 29, 2015, in McLaren-Port Huron.

He was born June 13, 1932 in Port Huron to the late Edward L. and Dolores C. Loxton. He married Mary L. Langolf on May 23, 1955 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Eugene served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.

He owned and operated Loxton’s Radiator Service, Loxton’s Family Restaurant and Blue Water Towing for many years.

He was a member of Moose Lodge #158, F.O.E. Lodge #3702, and American Legion Charles Hammond Post #8.

Eugene was a devout member of St. Stephen Catholic Church who loved to travel, feeding his birds and enjoyed bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Mary L.; his children, Eugene (Cathy) Loxton, Kathy (Tim) Nolan, Doug (Cindy) Loxton, Karen (John) O’Connor, Gary Loxton, Kim Potts and Tony, and Terry (Mary) Loxton; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; his brother; six sisters; and his loving dog, Chopper. He was preceded in death by son, David Loxton, three brothers; and a sister.

Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Reverend Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and Veterans Honor Guard Alliance.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of service in the church. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
