Thomas Shay

Thomas Shay, 74, of Port Huron, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in McLaren – Port Huron.

He was born March 1, 1941 in Buffalo, NY. He married Bonnie on November 15, 1963 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2013.

Thomas served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked for the Port Huron Police Department for 29 years and also worked for the U.S. Customs and Great Lakes Pilot Association.

He was a member of Port Huron Masonic Lodge #58, Port Huron Moose Lodge #158, Fraternal Order of Eagles #3702, the Fraternal Order of Police and Charles Hammond Post #8 American Legion.

He is survived by two sons, Mike (Sarah) Shay of Fort Gratiot and Patrick Shay (Jenny Brown) of Port Huron; grandchildren, Kaleigh and Coen Shay, Brendan and Bradley Brown; nephew, Robert Grant of South Carolina; sister, Mitzi (Max) Fuller and family of Buffalo, New York; special cousins, Ron and Joyce Brenton and their children, Danny, Traci and Blair.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #3702, 2645 Howard Street, Port Huron.

Memorials for Thomas are suggested to be made to the family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Prakash, Dr. Artinian, Dr. Kimberly Clark-Paul, the staffs on the 6th and 4th floors at McLaren – Port Huron and MediLodge of Port Huron for the exceptional care given to Tom.
