Rita M. Pifer

August 23rd, 1931 to January 5th, 2010






Rita M. Pifer, 78 of Kimball Township,

died peacefully Tuesday, January 5, 2010 in her home surrounded by

her family.

She was born August 23, 1931 in

Detroit, daughter of the late John S. & Cecilia (Kraemer)

Frieburger.

Rita married Wesley Pifer on

January 29, 1955 in Port Huron.

Rita graduated from St. Stephens

High School. She retired from the Port Huron Area School District in

1991 and worked on the election committee in Kimball Township for

many years. She was an active member of VFW May O'Brien Post #8465

for 55 years and coordinated flag presentations to many area

organizations and schools. Rita also enjoyed many other activities

such as vacationing at her second home in Bonita Springs, FL and

spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her loving

husband Wesley Pifer; daughters, Mary (Dave) Wilkins, Lori (Rob)

Russell and Cheryl Pifer (Dale, Alicia & Shaine Ingles);

granddaughters, Nicole and Kelly Wilkins, Cecilia and Kara Russell,

great granddaughter Brelynn Wilkins and many special nieces and

nephews. Also surviving are many other people whom she considered

family. Special thanks to Denise and Ron Urban.

Rita was preceded in death by her

sister Joan Archibald

Funeral services will be 10am

Friday in St. Stephens Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Gagnon will

officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Visiting hours are 2-9 pm today in

the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9am Friday at the church. A

rosary will be recited at 7 pm this evening.
