Denise L. Glenn-Grattan

October 16th, 1965 to December 30th, 2016

Denise L. Glenn-Grattan, 51, of Port Huron, died Friday, December 30, 2016, in Blue Water Hospice Home, Marysville, after a courageous 3½ year battle with leukemia.

She was born October 16, 1965, in Port Huron to Levi and Suzanne Glenn. She married Jeffrey C. Grattan on August 2, 1985, in Port Huron.

She was a 1983 graduate of Port Huron Northern High School. In 1988 she received her associates in science degree from SC4 and in 2012 she received her bachelor’s degree in business with high honors from the University of Michigan - Flint.

She was employed at Super Kmart, Chase Bank, and most recently Wirtz Manufacturing.

Denise was involved with PTA and was a room mother. She was in Band Boosters, Drama Club, and Girl Scouts.

Her daughters’ education was very important to her, from the first day of pre-school, all the way up through their high school years.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and took special pride in giving her homemade gifts to others.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; her three daughters, Rachel (Jeremy) LaBeau, Trisha (Jason) Gamble and Stephanie (Raymond) Buffington; her two grandchildren, Levi LaBeau and Madelyn Gamble; her mother, Suzanne Glenn; her two brothers, Mike (Jill) Glenn and Steve (Noriko) Glenn; and her sister-in-law, Dee VanWieren Glenn. She was preceded in death by her father, Levi Glenn; and her uncle, Larry Schelb.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2017, in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend James Arwady of St. Christopher Catholic Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce Patchel, Steve Grattan, Ed Schlorke, Sam LaVere, Alex Glenn and Nick Glenn.

Memorials may be given to the Blue Water Hospice Home, Marysville or the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM).

Denise would like you to remember, “that you don’t know how strong you can be, until being strong is the only choice you have.” And “if everything I went through helped even one person, doctor or nurse, I have accomplished a major goal in my life.”
