Elaine M Tomlinson

Elaine M. Tomlinson, 83, of East China, died Sunday, October 8, 2017.

She was born December 14, 1933 in Port Huron to the late George G. and Laura M. Cavis. She married Richard J. Tomlinson, her St. Stephens Catholic School sweetheart, on May 28, 1955 in St. Stephen Catholic Church. Richard preceded her in death on February 4, 2014.

She was a 1952 graduate of St. Stephen High School. She enjoyed boating and bowling with her many family and friends. She was a wonderful mom to her three boys and one girl, active as Cub Scout den mother, PTA mom, and community events leader. She made sure everyone was raised well and went to church every Sunday. She became a working mom when the kids got older and worked for many years at the River Rouge Savings Bank as a loan officer. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially bonfires with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Vivian) Tomlinson, Mark (Christine) Tomlinson, Craig (Megan) Tomlinson and Susan (John) Robinson; grandchildren, Alexis and Sara Tomlinson, Luke, Gina, Maria and Jake Tomlinson, Libby, Nathan and Matthew Tomlinson, Jonathan, Jenny and Joey Robinson; and her brother, Tony (Janelle) Cavis; sisters-in-law, Rosie Cummings and Theresa Jacobson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother George Cavis; and her Yorkie, Mollie.

Visitation will be from 3-9 pm Friday, October 13, 2017 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.

Elaine will lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Reverend Salvatore Palazzolo will officiate. After the church service a celebration of life luncheon will be held at the adjacent St. Stephen hall.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
