Obituary

Hans “Willi” Stay, 77, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

He was born September 11, 1940 in Rosenheim, Germany to the late Hans and Barbara Stay. He came to the Detroit area at age 11.

Willi worked at Trac-Tech in Warren for 35 years. He spent three years in Ireland as a plant manager.

Willi enjoyed boating on the Great Lakes, motor homing in the U.S and his Florida snowbird life. He also enjoyed golfing with his Lexington league in the summer. He loved all music, especially playing the keyboard. Willi was a big fan of the Fox News Network and he also enjoyed playing cards. He loved being around people, especially his family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Patricia K. Schroeder Stay; his son, Scott (Loreen) Stay; his daughter, Cindy (Rene) Houle; his five grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Ford, Amy (Ronnie) Beach, Scott (Jill) Stay Jr., Amanda (Brian) Semkiw and Ryan (Andrea) Stay; and his six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Hans Stay; his mother, Barbara Schmidt; and his step-father, Samuel Schmidt.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Brian Ake will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Baltimore
