Kathryn J. Tanton

Kathryn J. Tanton, who lived a very vibrant life, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 surrounded by her family at the age of 76.
She was born November 19, 1934 in Ironwood, Michigan and has lived here since 1940.
Kathryn married Thomas H. Tanton on October 23, 1955 in Port Huron.
After raising 12 children, Kathryn retired from Port City Communications. She enjoyed weekly Sunday dinners with her children and grandchildren and the weekly Wednesday dinners with her close circle of friends. An avid reader, which she passed on to all her daughters. Her other hobbies included golfing, membership at curves and coffee afterwards with Nancy O.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Henry of Port Huron; son, Jeffrey (Carol) Tanton of Port Huron; son, Doug Tanton of Virginia; daughter, Sue Laseck (Ron Kildow) of Alpena, MI; daughter, Diana (Carl) McCue of Goodells; son, James (Katie) Tanton of Port Huron; daughter, Rose (Jim) Ichenberg Grant Twsp; daughter, Laura (Greg) Hisscock of Port Huron; son ,Terry (Tamela) Tanton of Chesterfield; daughter Nancy (Bruce) Buckley of Houston, TX; daughter, Donna (Mike) Lapka of Port Huron, daughter, Leanne of Port Huron; 21 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren with one more due in April and numerous nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law, Bruce Mueller of Aurora, OH; sister-in-law, Alice Walli of Villa Park, CA and special friends Joe and Kay Barbee and her Wednesday nite dinner crew and Jack D.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Christine Tanton; parents, Carl & Lillian Walli; sister, Joyce Mueller and brother Dr. Charles Walli.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10 am Wednesday in St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 Monday and Tuesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7pm on Tuesday evening.
Pallbearers will be, Andrew Laseck, Christopher Laseck, Chad Tanton, Rodney Tanton, Zachary Tanton, Brandon Baker and Garrett Ichenberg, Daniel Solomon and Adam Solomon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Tanton, Randall Tanton, Nicholas Buckley, Jason Buckley and Brett Buckley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Holy Trinity Parish
