Frederick Scott Best

Frederick Scott Best was born September 22, 1949 in Port Huron, MI and died peacefully in his home on May 6, 2011. He retired from Grand Trunk Western Railroad as a conductor.

Fred served his country honorably as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam and he was a proud member of the Marine Corp League, VFW Post 796, American Legion Post 449, 40/8, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3702. He is survived by his three sisters, Marilyn Presley of Bay Port, MI, Sharron Newhouse of Rochester Hills, MI, and Joyce Brackenbury of Rapid City, MI. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Burial service will be graveside only. Family and friends of Fred wishing to attend are asked to arrive at Lakeside Cemetery (10th Ave entrance) at 10:45 am, Saturday, May 14th, 2011. Full Military Honors will be presented by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council Honor Guard. The American Legion Riders will be escorting Fred and his family members into the cemetery at 11:00 am. Immediately following his burial, Fred has provided for a celebration of his life to be held until 5pm at the VFW Post 796 on Pine Grove in Port Huron. *SEMPER FI*.
