Patricia L. Shurkey

Patricia L. Shurkey, 67, of Metamora formerly of Port Huron, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 in Harper Hutzel Hospital following a long illness.
She was born April 25, 1944 in Port Huron, daughter of the late Arthur and Seena (Ketels) Cesefske.
She married Robert P. Shurkey on April 11, 1966 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Pat was a MSU graduate and taught elementary school for 40 years. She retired from the Lapeer Community Schools and loved spending time in Harbor Springs where she participated in the food pantry. She will be sadly missed by her family and her dogs Winston and Lilly.
She is survived by her husband, Robert P. Shurkey of Metamora; daughter, Sheida A. (Robert) Youngs of Rochester; sister, Gayle (James) Anger of Port Huron; sister, Susan Cesefske of Port Huron and brother, Gary (Susan) Cesefske of Deckerville.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10am Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Harbor Springs, MI.
Visiting hours are 3-8 pm Wednesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A scripture service will be held at 7 pm Wednesday evening.
Memorials in memory of Pat may be given to the St. Clair County Humane Society or Leader Dogs for the blind.
