Arthur J. Lewandowski, 85, died May 24, 2012.

He was born August 26, 1926 in Port Huron to Adam and Eleanor (Gahns) Lewandowski. He married Elizabeth M. 'Betty' Fox on August 14, 1948.

Arthur served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, retired from the Port Huron Paper Company and was a member of St. Mary Church. He loved motorcycles, hunting, boxing and bowling, but the most important thing in his life was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. 'Betty' Lewandowski of Ft. Gratiot; sons, Art (Gail) Lewandowski of Croswell, Mike (Elwira) Lewandowski of Ft. Gratiot and Joe Lewandowski of St. Clair; grandchildren, Matt Lewandowski, Adam (Gretchen) Lewandowski and Madeline Lewandowski; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Elizabeth; and sister, Doris (Abe) Kalil of Detroit.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, Lawrence, Norbert and sisters Joyce Smith and Jean Vincker.

Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday, May 29, 2012 in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military Honors will be under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Association.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 9:30 am Tuesday at church. A Rosary will be recited 7 pm Monday.

Memorials for Arthur may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the People's Clinic for Better Health.
