Bernadine Noetzel

Bernadine "Bird" Naomi Noetzel Port Huron- Bernadine "Bird" Naomi Noetzel, age 71, passed away Wednesday, October 19 th after a lifetime battle against several serious illnesses. She was born on October 26, 1933 in Port Huron, daughter of the late Michael E. and Verna (Sharkey) Malane. Bernadine married Norbert "Knobby" Noetzel on April 14, 1956. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1990. She attended the Port Huron area Catholic schools graduating from St. Stephen High School in 1950. Bernadine was also a graduate of St. Clair County Community College. Bernadine loved dearly and was extremely devoted to her grandchildren. She was a Master Gardener who was instrumental in the development and planting of the Lincoln Park Memorial Rose Garden. She spent many years and countless hours tending to the care and management of the Rose Garden. Bernadine was also a lifelong avid antique collector and the former owner of the Bellflower ladies shop with her daughter, Elizabeth. Surviving are her children, Martha Lindsay, Port Huron; Eric Noetzel, Port Huron; Elizabeth (Dale) Hernden, Saginaw; her grandchildren, Brian K. and William J. Lindsay, Port Huron; Emily F. Noetzel, Dearborn; Holly M. Heiser, Marysville; her sisters, Margaret Duzinski, Joann Campbell, Geraldine Rutkowski, Betty Jane Modolewski, Patricia (Andrew) Balogh, Theresa (Ralph) Bonin, Mary (Edwin) Sawdon, Frances Bonkoske, Judith (John) Anter, and Marsha Irland. Brothers Michael Malane, Jr and William Malane, brother-in-law Thomas C. (Elaine) Noetzel, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Donna Czarnecki. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Simeon Iber will officiate. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening.
