George Assi, age 63, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Sunday, October 30, 2005. George Assi, age 63, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Sunday, October 30, 2005. He married his wife Marie on October 7, 1973 in Lebanon. She preceded him in death in 2003 and they are now reunited. George was an active, hardworking, well-respected man who lived for his friends and family. He loved to make people laugh, and fully enjoyed life. He took most pride in taking care of his family. He is survived by his daughter Ann Marie Assi and fiance Mark Moore of Las Vegas, NV; son, Fred Assi of Port Huron; daughter, Jasmine Assi of Rochester Hills; brother, Eddie Assi of Australia; sister, Theresa (Joseph) Johns of Fort Gratiot; brother, Tony (Georgette) Assi of Port Huron; brother Joey (Chris) Assi of Port Huron; sisters, Najibe and Tamina Assi of Lebanon, and many nieces, nephews and extended family also in Lebanon and Australia. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian Cokonougher, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Anthony, E.J. and Ryan Assi, Jason Roberts, Terry Ostrowski and Jim Leslie. Honorary pallbearer is Alex Johns-Moore. Memorials are requested to the charity of the donor's choice.
