Robert T. "Bob" Leahy, Sr. Fort Gratiot- Robert T. "Bob" Leahy, Sr., age 80, of Fort Gratiot, died Monday, October 31, 2005 following a long illness. He was born on February 5, 1925 in Port Huron to John H. And Frances K. Leahy. He married Mary J. Gleason on November 14, 1953 in St. Stephen Church in Port Huron. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2003. Bob graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1942. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict seeing action during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from the U.S. Customs Service in 1986 as an inspector. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #8 , the Knights of Columbus, St. Edward Parish, the F.O.P. Lodge #129 and the Last Mans Club of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Leahy of Ft. Gratiot; children, Ruth (Dan) Kessel of Belleville, Bob (Lori) Leahy, Jr. of Holly, Maureen (Jeff) Quandt of Thornton, CO, Patsy (Buck) Beach of Port Huron and Terry J. (Maria) Leahy of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, Laura (Dave) Eonta of Rochester, MI and Bobby Beach of Port Huron; sister, Ruth Abdoo of Ft. Gratiot; several nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Morris, Jack and Paul Leahy. Funeral Mass will by 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Edward Church. The Rev. Joseph M. Esper will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Thursday at church.
