Jean Brewer

June 17th, 1922 to February 8th, 2006
Jean E. Brewer, 83, of Fort Gratiot went to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 8, 2006 in Port Huron Hospital after a long illness. She was born June 17, 1922 in Buffalo, NY but lived here most of her life. Her husband, Virgil E. Brewer, preceded her in death December 1, 1994. Jean retired from the U.S. Customs Service. She served with the Women's Army Corps during W. W. II. She and Vergil raised and showed Quarter Horses winning numerous trophies awards and friends. The most important part of Jean's life was keeping all her family near and dear to her. She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Hawes (Randy Hills) of Ft. Gratiot; grandchildren, Joe (Nancy) Mawhinney of Tennessee, Rob (Shawn) Mawhinney of Davison, MI and Angie (Ritt) Enderson of Missouri, Great grandchildren, Mike, Kim, Nick, Robbie, Colin, Sarah, Alec and Emma; sisters, Hazel Blank, Mary Diepenbruck, Margaret (Claude) Miller and June (Jack) Wesch; brother, Albert (Helen) Patten; sister-in-law, Margaret Patten and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Doug Hull and her brother, Bob Patten. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Durning, Pastor of Mt. Pleasant Bible Church will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery, Deckerville. Visiting hours are 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
