Elizabeth A. 'Betty' Roglitz

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Roglitz, age 94, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Glacier Hills Continuing Care Center, Ann Arbor, MI. She was born August 23, 1911 in Rockford, Ill. to Lewis Stringer and Honora Kehoe Stringer. Betty married Carl Roglitz and subsequently moved to Port Huron where Carl was the Senior Vice President at Port Huron Paper Company. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1974. Betty was a long time resident of Port Huron, MI.. before moving to Ann Arbor in 2000 to be closer to her daughter, Cathy. She found great joy in being a long time volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron, and for parish activities at St. Stephens and St. Mary's Catholic Churches. She served on various Boards and Committees while a resident in Port Huron. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy of Ann Arbor, many nieces and nephews and special friends that became "family" throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her brothers, L.W. "Bill" Stringer and Walter Stringer in addition to her sisters, Marian Haines and Margaret Hancock. A Mass celebrating Betty's life will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1505 Ballentine, Port Huron, MI on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin one hour before the service at St. Mary's. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. A second celebration for her Ann Arbor friends will be held on September 18, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Kay Hansen Room at Glacier Hills. Memorial Contributions can be made in Betty's memory to the Recreation Therapy Department, Glacier Hills Retirement Center, 1200 Earhart Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Envelopes will be available in Port Huron and in Ann Arbor. Arrangements are by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, 1720 Elk St., Port Huron.
