Lloyd Cassin

Lloyd G. "Pete" Cassin, 94, of Sarnia formerly of Port Huron died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 in Sarnia General Hospital following a long illness. Pete was born September 11, 1911 in Port Huron, son of the late James L. and Augusta F. Cassin. He graduated from Port Huron High School and attended Port Huron Junior College and Auburn University. Pete served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.I.I. He served as Commissioner of the Michigan State Bridge Authority from 1949 to 1958, Assistant Advisor of Occupational Deferments, Draft Boards and previously was employed 36 years by the Family Theatre in Port Huron. Pete was a life member of B.P.O.E #343, D.A.V, Charles Hammond American Legion Post #8 and the Last Man's Club of W.W. I. I.. Pete is survived by his wife, Anne P. Cassin of Sarnia; son, James "Richard" (Christine) Cassin of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Jeanne B. (John W.) Martens of Port Huron; niece, Patricia M. Pfeifer of Port Huron and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1317 7th Street, Port Huron. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate with burial following in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Military graveside services will be conducted under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Memorials may be given to the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council who will also serve as Pete's pallbearers.
