Helen Keeslar

Helen M. Cummings Keeslar, 95, of Port Huron, died Monday, November 6, 2006 in The Manor where she had made her home the last three years. She was born September 22, 1911 in Detroit, daughter of the late Thomas and Nellie Jarvis and the family moved to Port Huron where she resided the rest of her life. Helen married Reginald Cummings January 4, 1936 and together they operated Griffin's Grocery Store from the 1940's until Reginald's death, January 11, 1968. She later married Lowell Keeslar, September 18, 1972 and he preceded her in death January 13, 1995. Helen is survived by her son, Thomas (Rosemary) Cummings of Port Huron; daughter-in-law, Beverly Cummings of Marysville; stepdaughter, Sharon (Ivan) Harris of Port Huron; sister, Mabel Smith of Port Huron; brother, Robert Jarvis of Marysville; grandchildren, Julie Gonzales of Royal Oak, Barbara (Tom) McKinch of Toledo, OH, Paul (Ako) Cummings of El Paso, TX, Elizabeth (Robert) Maldonado of Trenton, MI, Andrew (Chandra) Cummings of Denver, CO, Marci (Jeffrey) Brown of Brighton, MI, Mark (Posy) Cummings of Savage, MN, Jill (Ronald)Borkowski-Harris of Port Huron and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, William Cummings, brother, Edward Jarvis and a step grandson, Jeff Harris. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Reverend Brian K. Cokonougher, Pastor, will preside. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Memorials in Helen's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
