Daniel Hyatte

June 17th, 1927 to December 24th, 2006
Daniel Karl "Dodge" Hyatte Marysville - Daniel Karl "Dodge" Hyatte, 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones, on Sunday, December 24, 2006 in Mercy Hospital after a short illness. He was born June 17, 1927 on the St. Clair River in Marysville, to the late Karl and Elizabeth Hyatt. Daniel married Jeanne A. Dupuis in November of 1949 and built their home in Marysville where they raised their family and resided for more than 35 years. Daniel enlisted in the USNR during WWII and served from May 1945 to August 1946 as a boiler mechanic. He then returned home to graduate from Marysville High School in 1948. He was employed with the Marysville Police Departmant as a law enforcement officer, photographer and a participating member of the drug task force from 1955 to 1982. He retired as the Assistant Police Chief. He was also a St. Clair County rescue diver. Daniel won numerous awards for his marksmanship with the Marysville Police Department pistol team including the governors trophy for many years as well as individual sport. Daniel was an active member of the American Legion, Post 449 for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to spend time fishing, hunting, horseback riding and walking "Greydog". He enjoyed anything that involved being outside. He was an excellent carpenter and worked for Chet's Excavating. Some other favorite hobbies included collecting stamps and coins, as well as cooking and westerns. He is survived by his children, Demra (David) Collingwood of Marysville, Bruce Hyatte of Marysville and Stefanie (Jack) Shaw of Kimball; grandchildren, Jason (Barb) Littleton, Matthew (Courtney) Collingwood, Tristen Collingwood, Mallory and Heather Dutton and Rachelle Rock of Florida; great-granddaughter, McKenzie Jeanne Littleton; brother, Richard Hyatt of Port Huron; sister Patsy Peavley of Centerline. He will be sadly missed by all. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne A. Hyatte and his sister, Neatha Schmidt. Cremation has taken place. Please come join his family for a celebration of Daniel's life and a luncheon at the American Legion, Post 449 in Marysville on Saturday December 30th from Noon until 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Clair County Humane Society.
