James Crimmins

James Patrick Crimmins, 79, former Postmaster of Port Huron died Friday, May 11, 2007 in his home. Jim was born July 8, 1927 in Port Huron, son of the Late John and Mattie (Marx) Crimmins and was a life long area resident. He married Jacqueline A. Anderson on July 25, 1951. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1999. Jim was a 1945 graduate of St. Stephen High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years retiring in 1982. Jim volunteered at the American Red Cross. He served as an usher for many years at St. Joseph Church and was currently an active member of St. Mary's Church. He enjoyed wood working and model ship building. He is survived by his children, Terri (Joseph) Tomak of DeWitt, Anne Crimmins and David Grassi of Milford, Susan (John) Devon of Howell, Patrick (Caryn) Crimmins of Ypsilanti, Phyllis (Leo) Soulliere of Port Huron, John Crimmins of Port Huron, Paul (Patricia) Crimmins of Virginia Beach, VA and Eric Crimmins of Detroit; grandchildren, Kathleen (Luke) Sebby, Aaron Tomak, Nicholas, Scott and Stefani Soulliere, Christopher and Patrick Devon, Noah Crimmins, Sean and Rachel Crimmins, Christine ( Jason) Silva and Michael and Casey Crimmins; brothers, Edward Crimmins of Davison, William (Dorothy) Crimmins of Port Huron, Thomas (Joan) Crimmins of Port Huron and his sister, Sr. Mary Elizabeth Crimmins, O.P. of Adrian. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers Donald & Jack and sister-in-law Marge Crimmins. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher, pastor will officiate with military honors following under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Following Jim's wishes, cremation will take place. Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9.a.m. Tuesday at the church. A scripture service will be at 7 p.m. this evening.
