Evangeline Papineau

Evangeline P. Papineau, 84, of Ruby, died unexpectedly, Sunday, July 8, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital Emergency Room. She was born May 8, 1923 in Port Huron and was a life long resident of the area. Evangeline married James F. "Pappy" Papineau, Sr. November 10, 1943 and he preceded her in death November 18, 1985. Evangeline was a 1942 graduate of Port Huron High School, life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the St. Clair County Council on Aging. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was an avid Detroit Tiger fan. She also enjoyed dancing and traveling. She was a nanny to many others. She enjoyed nature and hunting. Surviving are her sons, James F. (Joan), Jr. of Kimball, Robert H. (Teri) and Douglas L. (Cathy), both of Ft. Gratiot, daughter, Rosanne M. (Stanley) Tarala, son, Richard A.(Kim) Papineau of Ft. Gratiot; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; her sister, Theresa Eveningred of Port Huron and her long time companion, Zygmund "Zig" Porada of Ruby. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with Evangelist Harold L. Hastings officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m.. until service time. Memorials, in Evangeline's memory, may be made to St. Clair County Council on Aging.
