Dr. Carol V. Nowakowski

July 8th, 1958 to August 14th, 2007
Dr. Carol Veronica Nowakowski, died August 14, 2007. She was admired for her strong sense of family and her love of life. She was born July 8, 1958. Carol believed in education. She graduated with honors from Memphis High School in 1976. She continued her education at St. Clair County Community College. She then completed her B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Michigan State University. She fulfilled her goal of a Doctoral Degree from Western Michigan University while battling breast cancer. At the winter commencement exercise she was singled out for her extraordinary perseverance and strength during the college commencement ceremony. Carol used her talents as an educational leader at Davenport University in Kalamazoo and currently as the Vice-President of Student Services at St. Clair County Community College. She was loved and respected by both her colleagues and students. She is survived by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Cook; she adored her daughter, Carmen Wanda Frances Wiegand and was a number one supporter of the New Life Christian Academy Knights. Also surviving are step-daughters, Holly, Amber and Tina. Carol will be sadly missed by her parents Aloysius and Frances Nowakowski of Emmett and her siblings, Catherine (Jeff) Woloshen, Diane (Chuck) Wood, Mary (Jeff) Pickering, Susan (Laurent) Bachelot, John (Martha) Nowakowski and Margaret (Allen) Muir. Carol was extremely proud and mentored her many nieces and nephews and grandchildren. Preceeding Carol in death were her in-laws Mr. Robert and Mrs. Mary Jean Cook and her three brothers, James, Joseph and Michael Nowakowski. Visitation with family will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. The Rev. Simeon T. Iber will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to a scholarship fund to be determined by Carol's family.
