Laura Cavis
June 29th, 1913 to April 5th, 2008
East China - Laura Marie Cavis, 94, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 in St. Johns River District Hospital.
She was born in Saginaw, MI on June 29, 1913, the daughter of
George and Anna Ott Gardner. She married George G. Cavis February 4,
1932 at St. Stephen Rectory, Port Huron.
Together with her husband she owned and operated the T&G
Grill, The Unique Grill and Cavis Party Store. She was also a member
of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Anne Altar Society.
She is survived by her daughter Elaine (Richard) Tomlinson of
East China; her son, Anthony (Janelle) of St. Clair; daughter-in-law,
Sharon Cavis of Fort Gratiot; her grandchildren, Richard (Vivian)
Tomlinson of Seabrook, TX, Mark (Christine) Tomlinson of Farmington
Hills, Craig (Megan) Tomlinson of Livonia, Susan (John) Robinson of
Grosse Isle, Stephen (Elizabeth) Cavis of Montgomery, Tx, Jared Cavis
and Fiancee Sarah of Kalamazoo, Andrew Cavis and girlfriend Emilee of
Eastpointe and Laura Cavis of St. Clair. She is also survived by 10
great grandchildren, Alexis and Sara Tomlinson, Luke, Gina, Maria and
Jake Tomlinson, Elizabeth Tomlinson, Jonathan, Jennifer and Joseph
Robinson. In addition she is survived by many close nieces and nephews
and her special friends at Medilodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George G., son, George
T., grandson, Scott J. Cavis, Twin sister, Doris Godi and brother,
Harold Gardner.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St Stephens Church.
The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will be in Mt.
Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Jared, Andrew, Nick,
Jim, Nick and Dean Cavis, Mark and Craig Tomlinson. Honorary
pallbearers will be Richard Tomlinson, Stephen Cavis and John Robinson.
Visiting hours are 2-5 & 7-9 Tuesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to Medilodge of St. Clair or wishes of the family.
