Evelyn Nofs

May 12th, 1922 to October 25th, 2008






Evelyn

C. Nofs, 86, passed away peacefully in Mercy Hospital on Saturday,

October 25, 2008 with her loving son at her side.

She

was born May 12, 1922 in Forestville, MI. She worked at the Electric

Auto-Lite Company where she met her future husband, Lawrence C. Nofs.

He proposed to her on October 26, 1946 and they were married on

April 17, 1948. He died October 4, 1997.

Evelyn

was a 1942 graduate of Royal Oak High School. She was a Member of

Faith Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Ladies Fidelis Guild. She was

a Sunday School teacher, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and a

neighborhood caregiver.

She

was a devoted mother to her children.

She

is survived by her son, Rodney C. Nofs of Fort Gratiot; sister, Ruth

(Chuck) McGinnis of Port Huron; brother, Herman Behnke of Sandusky;

brother and sister-in-laws, Joseph (Dolly) Nofs of Lakeport, James

(Terry) Nofs of Battle Creek, Fred (Florence) Nofs of Marysville,

Gordon (Loretta) Nofs of Flint and Justine Senyk of Port Hurn; many

nieces and nephews.

She

was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Jill Nofs; Brothers,

Harold, Alfred and Arnold; sister-in-law, Helen Behnke;

sister-in-laws, Cecelia Mullin, Dorthea (William) Gottsleben and

brother-in-law, Fred Senyk

Funeral

services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Faith Lutheran Church. Pastor

Tim Eichberger will officiate. Burial will be in East Deleware

Cemetery, Forestville.

Visiting

hours are 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Karrer-Simpson

Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Thursday until the service time Thursday at

church.

Her

high school class motto was Not Finished, Just Begun and this

perfectly describes Evelyn's life.
