Grace Brunson
June 24th, 1951 to April 22nd, 2014
Grace S. Brunson went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2014. She passed after fighting cancer with her friends and family by her side.
Grace was born June 24, 1951 in St. Louis, Illinois.
Grace was proud of being a Medical Corp. person in the United States Army during Vietnam and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. She worked at Black River Manufacturing for 30 years, was a member of Wednesday Nite Ladies bowling league and loved playing Euchre.
She is survived by her children, Crystal Brunson and Doug Brunson; and life-long best friend, Ethel Gonder; a sister, Stephanie (Joseph) Smith; and brothers, James (Sherry) Gonder Jr. and Theo (Debbie) Gonder; and friend, Linda Gonder; many friends; and many nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Wynn Groat; a brother, Richard Groat who was lost in Vietnam, two sisters, Judy Higgins and Chris Wambach; and brother and sister-in-law James and Diane Groat.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Phil Whetstone will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Clair County Allied Veterans Cemetery.
