Ruth Jean Woodward, 92, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014.

She was born May 27th 1922 to the late George and Margaret (Connor) Woodward.

She was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church. She proudly served her country with the US Navy with the postal service in Washington DC during World War II. She continued on with the US Postal Service upon her return to Port Huron after discharge where she retired after many years of service. She loved to travel and did so extensively throughout the United States and Europe.

Ruth is survived by her brother Jack (Mary Lou) Woodward; nephews, Tom Woodward and Tyler Morrison; nieces, Julie Woodward, Jennifer Diamond, Anne Mayer, Rebecca Gordon, Ruthann Course, Mary Kay Course and Nan Perley.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marion Course, Josephine Woodward, Elizabeth Morrison, Anne Ernst, and Agnes Woodward; and her beloved nephews Michael Course and James Course.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Lydia Agnew Speller of Grace Episcopal Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and the Veteran’s Honor Guard Alliance.

Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.Friday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Adam Course, Greg Falecki, Mandy Course, David Perley, Mallory Perley and Nan Perley
