Agnes J Knowlton
September 21st, 1920 to July 24th, 2014
Agnes J. Knowlton, 93, of Port Huron Township, followed God’s light through the beautiful gates of heaven joining her beloved husband, Mickey, on Thursday, July 24, 2014.
She was born September 21, 1920 in Port Huron to the late Albert and Molly Borowski. She married Norman “Mickey” Knowlton on April 25, 1942 in Ypsilanti. They enjoyed 72 years of marriage before his death 16 days ago on July 8, 2014.
Mrs. Knowlton was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She volunteered with 4-H and was a member of the Hi-Tally Club and St. Stephen Catholic Church. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She enjoyed shopping, taking care of her home, driving her golf cart in the yard and feeding the birds and neighborhood animals. Agnes had a very extensive doll collection which is now housed in the Knowlton Ice Museum. She and Mickey traveled extensively and she was always the navigator in their motor home.
She is survived by five children, Judy Knowlton, Chuck (Vicky) Knowlton, Bonnie Karl, Suzanne (Don) Barkhouse and Delbert Knowlton; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Minnie; two brothers, Joseph Borowski and Gerald “Bud” (Marilyn) Borowski; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Karl; two sisters, Cecelia Campbell and Camilla Sterling; and two brothers, Vincent Borowski and John Borowski.
Visitation will be 1-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A time for family and friends to share memories of Agnes will be held at 8 p.m.
Mrs. Knowlton will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014 in St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Reverend Brian Cokonougher will officiate.
The Rite of Committal will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church.
