Charles Carpentier Norton, 86, of Grant Township, died Thursday, March 19, 2015, in Howell, Michigan.
He was born August 25, 1928 in Port Huron, the son of the late Charles and Eva Norton. He married Inadel Rea on February 4, 1956 in Port Huron.
Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War where he served as a tank mechanic foreman.
Mr. Norton worked for General Motors and retired after 35 years of service.
Charles was loyal and took great care of his family. He was a car fanatic who loved fixing anything mechanical and was very good working with his hands. He was a private pilot, enjoyed traveling and photography.
He is survived by his wife; Inadel; two sons, Randall (Myra) Norton of Saginaw and Patrick (Patty) Norton of Grant Township; a daughter, Lisa (Greg) Lorkowski of Howell; five grandchildren, Alex (Shirley) Norton, Alycia Norton, Katie Lorkowski, Emily Lorkowski, and Jacqueline MacDonald; and two great grandchildren, Avery and Nolan MacDonald. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.
Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Croswell Cemetery.
