Elizabeth M. “Betty” Lewandowski, 85, of Fort Gratiot Township died Sunday, June 14, 2015.
She was born February 7, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Fox. She married Arthur J. Lewandowski on August 14, 1948 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2012.
Betty retired from Farmer Jack’s Grocery Store. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Port Huron and volunteered much of her time there. She also volunteered for other organizations including the Red Cross. She loved baking for other people, especially pies and also enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She is survived by her sons, Arthur J. (Gail) Lewandowski of Croswell, Mike (Elwira) Lewandowski of Fort Gratiot and Joe Lewandowski of St. Clair; grandchildren, Matthew, Adam (Gretchen) and Madeline Lewandowski; great grandchildren, Zachary and Elizabeth Lewandowski and Mayhle Roberts; brother, Gene Fox; sister-in-law Mercedes Fox and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Fox; and sisters-in-law, Patricia Fox and Patricia Fox.
Mass of Resurrection will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church. Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.
Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Peoples Clinic for Better Health.
