William C Stroer

William C. Stroer, 97, of Burtchville Township, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
He was born January 6, 1918 in Detroit to the late Lewis and Agnes Stroer. He married Grace D. Gofton on February 19, 1938 in Indiana. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2007.
Mr. Stroer served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and has now joined his fellow comrades.
He was employed at Detroit Edison for many years, retiring in 1980.
William enjoyed wood working. He was a member St. Edward on-the-Lake Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his son, William R. (Sharon) Stroer; his daughter, Diane K. Lamb; three granddaughters, Sherri (Scott) Smith, Harmony (William) Carlisle and Robyn Eagen; grandson, Scott Ackerman; six great grandchildren, Jordan, Melanie, William, Jr. and Brandon Carlisle, Connor Eagen and Kara Smith; good friends, Jim and Bea Smith and Steve and Sandy Hustek. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Stroer and Martin Cowie.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 in St. Edward on-the-Lake Catholic Church. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the church.
Burial will be in Burtchville Cemetery, Lakeport.
Military honors will be conducted under auspices of the United States Navy and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to St. Edward on-the-Lake Catholic Church.
