John Reckker
October 10th, 1933 to January 18th, 2016
John F. “Cake” Reckker, 82, of Ruby, died Monday, January 18, 2016, in his home.
He was born October 10, 1933 in Port Huron to the late John and Clara Reckker. John married Waneta M. Roberts on January 15, 1963 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on June 5, 2011.
He was a 1951 graduate of St. Stephen High School and was employed at Detroit Edison for 35 years retiring in 1994. John loved hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his children, Leo (Darlene) Reckker, Geraldine Reckker and Ron Dortmann, Waneta Reckker, John (Tina) Reckker, Jr and Stacy Bedner; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and his brother, Bill (Kathy) Reckker.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Robert and Gerald; daughter, Laura; and brothers, Ed and Joe Reckker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday January 22, 2016 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Reverend Dr. Robert Wynkoop will officiate. Burial will follow in Ruby Cemetery
Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and 10 a.m. until the service time on Friday.
Memorials may be given to the Smiths Creek Lions Club.
