Helen Phyllis Corby, 89, formerly of

Port Huron, died Monday, August 10, 2009 in Federal Way, WA.

She was born January 12, 1920 in

Rockford, IL. She married Robert J. Corby on August 16, 1947 in Port

Huron. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1989.

She was very proud of the 4 years she

spent serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. She was a nurse aid and

retired from Mercy Hospital after more than 30 years of employment.

She loved dancing and being around her family.

Helen is survived by her sons, John,

Donald and Ronald Corby; daughter, Sherry McCallum; 11 grandchildren

and 8 great grandchildren: brother, Bill; sister, Joyce and brother,

Jerry.

She was also preceded in death by her

brother, Dick.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday

at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Doerzbacher will

officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers

will be Jud, Kevin, Dustin, Donnie and Brandon Corby, Ryan McCallum

and Kelly Paeth.

Visiting hours are 12 noon to 6 p.m.

Sunday at the funeral home.
