Wilma J. Hellmuth, 88, of North Street, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.
She was born July 7. 1927 in Detroit to the late Glenn and Rhoda (VanNatter) Hynes. She married Howard Hellmuth on September 12, 1948 in Bowling Green, OH.
Wilma was an amazing woman and will be deeply missed. She learned how to fly a plane before she learned to drive a car and was ahead of her time. She raised 5 children and after the children grew up, she worked with her husband at Howard Hellmuth Auto Sales in Fort Gratiot.
She enjoyed garage sales, fishing, painting, doing puzzles and watching horse races. Wilma loved spending time up north at the family cottage on Grand Lake in Presque Isle, MI.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Howard; children, Bart (Cathy) Hellmuth, Bruce (Bette) Hellmuth, Ron Hellmuth, Becky Gregg; daughter-in-law, Karin Hellmuth; eight grandchildren, Bart, Erik, Angela, Kirt, Chad, Christopher, Wesley, Jennifer; ten great grandchildren, William, Charles, Joshua, Juniper, Jordon, Tyler, Howard, Aubrey, Kendall, Charlotte; and sisters, Josephine Vasilko, Cathy (Harry) Martoi, Marge (Bill) Pash.
She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Hellmuth (2014); son-in-law, Mark Gregg (2009); grandson, Jason Hellmuth; brother, James Hynes; sisters, Irene Belsha, Erma Cybulski; parents, Glenn and Rhoda Hynes; step mother, Josephine (McInerney) Hynes.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Mark Huff of Faith Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service.
Interment will be at Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township at a later date
The family requests donations be made to the Faith Lutheran Church’s Altar Guild, Port Huron.
