Shirley M Stephenson

Shirley Mae Stephenson, 82, of Fort Gratiot Township died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, May 27, 2016.

She was born September 7, 1933 in Taylor Township to the late Ferdinand and Lilly Lange. She married Glenn D. Stephenson in 1954, and together raised their family in Wayne and later, Port Huron, Michigan. He died January 12, 2014.

Shirley had a strong faith and attended Lutheran Schools as a child. She and Glenn moved to Port Huron in 1968. She loved gardening and canning, playing bingo, dancing, traveling, painting, playing cards and camping with the Michigan Active Campers. She was a member of the HAM Radio Club with her husband. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She appreciated her time at the Sanctuary at Mercy Village and all the friends she made there.

She is survived by her sons, Tom (Sandra) Stephenson, Tim (Jody) Stephenson; daughter, Sandra (Steve) Bradley; granddaughters, Mallory Schultz (Justin Reed), Sarah Stephenson, Breanna Schultz, Shauna Stephenson and Lillian Bradley; sister, Evelyn Granter; brother-in-law, Ralph Schaffer; sisters-in-law, Donna Lange, Ruth Meyers and Louise Vena; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by children, Bonnie, Lonnie, Ronnie, Connie, Kaye and Faye; her parents, Ferdinand and Lilly Lange; and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm Tuesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 am Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in Faith Lutheran Church, 3455 Stone Street, Port Huron with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of service. Pastor Mark Huff and Pastor Tim Eichberger will officiate.
