Charles Hueber Whipple, 84 passed away peacefully at his

home in Port Huron after a brief illness.



He

was born in Port Huron to the late Freda and Herbert Ford Whipple.

He

married Cynthia Cotes in 1950. She preceded him in death on July

3, 1990. He married Virginia Marx in 1993.

Charles

was a graduate of the University of Michigan and was a member

of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He was a veteran of W.W. II

serving in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy. He began

his career at the Howard Furniture Company in Port Huron then moved

to Grosse Pointe in 1961 to pursue a career in accounting. He

received the William A. Paton Award, which honors the candidate with

the highest score on the semi-annual CPA examination (in Michigan).

He returned to Port Huron in 1971 to become a partner at Stewart,

Beauvais and Whipple. He was an avid golfer and served as president

of the Port Huron Golf Club. He served others and supported

his community through his involvement with the YMCA, Boy Scouts

of America, as board member of Port Huron Hospital and vestryman at

Grace Episcopal Church.

He

is survived by his wife Virginia; son, David C. (Janice) Whipple of

Port Huron; son, James C. (Janice) Whipple of Plymouth; daughter, Betsy

Whipple Mergos of Clinton Township; brother, H. Ford (Jeanne) Whipple

of Santa Rosa, CA; grandchildren, Meredith Whipple of Palo Alto, CA,

Daniel Whipple of Marina del Rey, CA, Andrea (Jack) Fischer of Okemos,

Kevin Whipple of Chicago, IL and Carolyn Mergos of Clinton Township;

step-daughters Melinda (Dennis) O'Toole of Vermilion, OH, Melanie (Mark)

Richardson of Bay Village, OH, step-son, Daniel (Angel) Marx of Smyrna,

GA; step-grandchildren, Erin (John) DeSplinter of Evanston, IL, Jonathan

O'Toole of Vermilion, OH, David (Jordan) Russell of Antheny, IA,

Christopher (Mary Eileen) Russell of Bellingham, WA, Eric (Kari) Russell

of Mandan, ND, Stephanie (David) Mullen of Omaha, NE, Emily (Aaron)

Vasey of Bismarck, ND, Michael (Haley) Richardson of Gibsonton, FL,

16 step-great grandchildren: and cousin Marilyn Telfer of Port Huron.



Funeral

services will be 11 am Saturday in Grace Episcopal Church.

The Rev. Robert P. Trask, Rector will officiate. Burial

will be in Lakeside Cemetery with military honors under auspices of

the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Visiting

hours are 2-4 & 6-9 pm Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home

and 10 am Saturday at the church.

Memorials

may be given Grace Episcopal Church Endowment Fund or the Community

Foundation of St. Clair County.
