Robert R Rader
Robert Richard Rader, 89, of Fort Gratiot, died Monday, October 10, 2016.
He was born March 5, 1927 in Port Huron to the late Harold Kenneth and Marie Elizabeth Rader. He married Jacquelin Young on August 15, 1953 in Angola, Indiana.
Mr. Rader was Chief Engineer with Wirtz Manufacturing and was responsible for over 1,800 Registered Patents during his lifetime. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a communication specialist. An adventurer at heart, he enjoyed sailing, boat building, golfing, oil painting, and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jacquelin; four children, Jeff (Linda) Rader, Julie (Pat) Riccardi, Josie Butzier and Heidi Rader; eight grandchildren, John (Amy) Shafer, Tracy (Keith) Acker, Elizabeth (Scott) Dinwiddie, Robert Rader, Brett Riccardi, Whitney (Todd) Biggs, Katelyn (Ryan) Burke and Brian Butzier; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Jim) Loane.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
