Marvin Johnson
Marvin Johnson Jr., 84, of Emmett, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017.
He was born May 13, 1932 in Detroit, to the late Marvin and Drucella Johnson. He married Mary C. Vallie on February 2, 1963, in Detroit.
Marv served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He retired in 1992 as a Detroit City Police Sergent after 35 years.
He was a member of the Blue Water Sportsman’s Association. He loved his dogs, Noel, Lily, Lucy and Samantha, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and being a “Papa”.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Marvin J. Johnson, Michael (Holly) Johnson, Karen (Brian) Hillis, Kathy (John) Paling, Rob (Lisa) Johnson, Mary (Tom) Thornton, Jamie (Carrie) Johnson and Bill (Korisa) Johnson; and 25 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and Jack Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017, in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Timothy Eichberger will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
