Fred T. Scandalito

April 30th, 1931 to June 6th, 2017

Fred Thomas Scandalito, 86, of Clyde, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, after a long illness.

He was born April 30, 1931, the son of the late Frank and Stella (Senyk) Scandalito, and was a lifelong resident of Port Huron. He married Jacqueline Almanza in 1971, she preceded him in death in 1979. He then married Mary Godlewski in 1981. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Fred and Mary were members of Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church where Fred served as an usher.

He retired from Grand Trunk Western Railroad in 1993 after more than 40 years of service. Fred was also a skilled carpenter who built and remodeled many houses in Port Huron during the 60’s and 70’s, performing much of the labor himself.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Laurie (Brian) McPeck; six grandchildren, Josh, Laura, Katy, Evan, Lauren and Grant; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Maddie and Liliana; three brothers; many cousins; and many nieces and nephews. Fred maintained very close bonds to his extended family, neighbors and friends, who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Mr. Scandalito will lie in state at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Church on Saturday, June 10, 2017, from 9 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. The Reverend Jeffery Allan will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorials in Fred’s name may be made to Holy Trinity Parish or the Michigan Humane Society.
