William O'Connor
William Edward O’Connor, 87, of Port Huron, died Saturday, June 24, 2017.
He was born July 6, 1929 in Emmett Township to the late Joseph and Mary O’Connor. He married Violet Belle Matthews on September 2, 1950 in St. Stephen Catholic Church.
William worked for Grand Trunk Western Railroad for over 43 years and was a member of Holy Trinity Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Belle; three sons, Ronald (Linda) O’Connor Sr., Timothy (Katherine) O’Connor and Matthew (Melisa) O’Connor; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leo O’Connor, Tom O’Connor and Gary O’Connor; two sisters, Lucille Gajda and Donna Pace; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard James O’Connor and William Edward O’Connor Jr.; four brothers, Francis, Joseph, Robert and Vincent; and four sisters, Marie, Margaret, Helen and Isabelle.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Mr. O’Connor will lie in state at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Reverend Joseph Gagnon will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church.
