Alvin J. VanBuskirk

Alvin Jay VanBuskirk, 80, of Yale, died Monday, July 10, 2017.

He was born January 14, 1937 in Port Huron to the late Archibald J. and Doris M. VanBuskirk. He was raised by his mother and his father, Eugene F. Cole.

Alvin retired from the A&P Food Store.

He collected postcards, was an avid Port Huron memorabilia collector and was a member of M.C.C.

He is survived by his two children, Gerri VanBuskirk and Timothy VanBuskirk; step-daughter, Brenda Oakley; four grandchildren, Jared, Weston, Jeremy and Brandon; siblings, Barbara (Ken) Hall, Cheryl (Steve) Keef, Gene (Cheryl) Cole and Melinda (Larry) Peyerk; best friend and loving companion, Logan Wostyn; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son, Jay VanBuskirk; brother, John Gary VanBuskirk; mother, Doris M. Cole; and father, Eugene F. Cole.

Visitation will be 2-7:30 p.m. Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Pastor Pat Robbins will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
