John H Rumptz

John Henry Rumptz, 77, of Port Huron Township, died Monday, November 13, 2017.

He was born February 28, 1940 in Ubly, to the late Peter S. and Theresa M. Rumptz.

John served in the United States Navy and was a true patriot. He retired from Michigan National Bank and the Blue Water Area Transit.

He was a gifted conservationist, who enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, reading and researching his ancestors, but his greatest joy in life was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Rob (Liz) Rumptz, Laura (Mike) Patton, Steve (Lacey) Rumptz , Karen Rumptz (Eric Schott), Lynnda (Jim) Higgins, and Lisa (Bob) Esquibel; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Alexis, Conner, Gracelyn, Lyndzey, Charlee and Alexandra; and two great-grandchildren, Kenidee and Roman; two sisters, Bernice Howard and Donna Artman; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and David Donaldson, Rose and Jim Belkiewicz and Sharon and Bill Dubord. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Robert Rumptz, brother, Harold Rumptz; sister, Shirley Locke; grandson, Drew Sanchez; and brothers-in-law, James Kloha, Elwin Locke Sr., Charles Howard Sr., and Hop Artman.

John was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
