Catherine "Marie" Cowhy-O'Donnell

Catherine “Marie” Cowhy-O’Donnell, 93, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Port Huron and Fort Myers, FL, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Blue Water Hospice House, Marysville.

She was born Oct. 12, 1925 in Emmett to the late Frank and Frances Cowhy.

Catherine graduated in 1945 from St. Stephen High School. She married Patrick J. O’Donnell on Aug. 23, 1947 in St. Stephen Catholic Church, Port Huron. They lived and raised their family in Port Huron until 1988.

From 1961 to 1971 Mrs. O’Donnell worked at Port Huron Catholic High School as a Bakery Chef and 2nd Chef, where she was famous for her cinnamon rolls. In 1988 they retired to Plantation Estates, Ft. Myers, FL and she served as President of the Board of Directors. She enjoyed many crafts, playing cards and had a wide circle of friends.

She is survived by daughters, Janette M. O’Donnell-Shaw of Clinton Twp. and MaryAnn (Philip) Pearson of Bartow, FL; daughter-in-law, Virginia A. O’Donnell of Port Huron; sons, James P. (Cheryl) O’Donnell of Port Charlotte, FL, Timothy M. (Teresa) O’Donnell of Port Huron and David L. (Manuel J. Cabral) O’Donnell of St. Petersburg, FL; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick J. O’Donnell; son, William J. O’Donnell; grandson, Brian E. O’Donnell; brother, Patrick F. Cowhy; and sister, Mildred E. Cowhy.

A Celebration of Catherine Marie’s life will take place at 11:15 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church, Port Huron with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Joseph Gagnon will officiate.

Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Emmett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Water Hospice Home, Marysville.
