Joseph L. Gouin, 72, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in Harper University Hospital from complications following surgery,
He was born May 28, 1938 in Cheboygan, MI. He married Elaine Gouin on July 9, 1966. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2008. He adored her and is surely reuniting with her and all his loved ones in heaven.
Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He spent many hours traveling, hunting, fishing and playing fantasy football with his boys. Pops will be sadly missed. Go State! He will be remembered as a true gentleman and will remain in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his son: Joseph L. (Julia) Gouin Jr of Port Huron; daughters, Carrie Thomason of CA, Renee Young (John) of Interlochen; sons, Shane Young and Jeff Young (Karen) both of Interlochen; grandchildren, Angela, David, Kelly, Kurt, Amanda, Eric, Jimmy, Sarah, Bailey, Logan and Renee; 7 great grandchildren; brother, David (Lena) Gouin of Atlanta, MI; Ginger (Ralph) Merritt of Grand Blanc; brother-in-law, Jerry Strandell of Traverse City and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister Phyllis.
Funeral services will be 1 pm. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Joseph Gagnon will officiate.
Visiting hours are -2-4 & 7-9 pm. Sunday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, Port Huron and from 12 noon Monday until the service time at church.
Memorials may be made to the Gift of Life.
