PORT HURON - Kathleen W. Schuler, 97, of Port Huron passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Regency on the Lake.
She was born to Robert and Ann E. Hagen in Ubly, Michigan on September 22, 1913. She has lived in the Port Huron area since 1932. She married Peter C. Schuler on August 14, 1936 in Ubly, Michigan and he preceded her in death on February 8, 1970.
Kathleen was a graduate of Ubly High School in 1932, Port Huron Junior College in 1934, and Wayne State University in 1955 with a degree in education. She was a school teacher for 6 years in Huron County and for 27 years in the Port Huron Area School District at Keewahdin Elementery School. She was a member of the Michigan Public Schools Retirement System, former member of the A.A.U.W., life member of the chapter S, P.E.O. and of the Blue Water Chapter of Retired Teachers. She was also a member of Lakeshore Presbyterian Church.
Kathleen was an avid photographer and proud of her perfect driving record of 78 years. She was an avid traveler, having visited almost every state and Europe three times. She especially enjoyed going to the Maritime Center and parking along the St. Clair River to watch the freighters.
She is survived by her grandson, Jonathon P. Ledebuhr, Port Huron; brothers, Murray J. Hagen of Florida; Merrill G. (Isabell) Hagen of Caro, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela A. Ledebuhr, brother, Robert J. Hagen and sister, Gertrude Hurford.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday in Lakeshore Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. William N. Wingrove will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Tuesday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeshore Presbyterian Church.
