Richard J. Seefried, 84 of Port Huron, died Thursday, February 3, 2011 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 4, 1926 in Memphis, MI and has lived here all his life.
He married the former Anna E. Brandon. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2007.
Richard was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater on the USS Riddle. He owned and operated Port Huron Battery and Tire Company and in 1988 retired from Carpenters Local #687. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and spending time at his cabin in Mio, Michigan. His family was the most important part of his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Sue Boughner of Port Huron; son, Richard (Julianne) Seefried, Jr of Port Huron; daughter, Sally (Louis) Dubay of Smiths Creek; daughter, Judy Dalton of Indiana; grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Angie, Chris, Andrew, Sara, Peter, Paul and Charlie Jr; great-grandchildren, John, Lindsay, Amber, Christopher, Faith,Noah, Keith, Mallory, Adam, Leah, Chris, Julia, Annalyn and Preston; sisters, Joyce Burns of Yale, Jo Ellen Hawkins of Cadillac and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Michael Dubay.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10am Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Zbiginew Zomerfeld will officiate. Military honors will follow under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council..
Visiting hours are 3-9 pm Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9 am Tuesday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7pm on Monday evening.
Memorials may be given to the St. Clair County Humane Society.
