June Koob

June E. Koob, 93, passed away quietly with her family by her side on February 26, 2011 in St. John Hospital.
She was born June 22, 1917 in Huron County, MI. June married Charles W. Koob on March 29, 1947 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Huron. He died on July 9, 1996. She was a life long area resident having been born, raised, raised her family, worked and retired in the Port Huron and Thumb area.
She proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Washington, D.C, during World War II. She was a 1935 graduate of Port Huron High School. She was a member of the American Legion, Women Marines Association of Michigan, and charter member of the Women in Military Service of America. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, as well as bingo.
June is survived by her son, Charles R. (Denise) Koob of Ft. Gratiot, step-daughter, Charlene (Gunter) Sinne of Marysville, daughter-in-law, Dian Koob of Burtchville, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as her many friends at the Blue Water Lodge.
She is preceded in death by her son, Frank Koob; brother, Don Horton; and grandson, Jerry Bready.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday in the Karrer-Simspon Funeral Home. The Rev. John S. Carrier of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Cemetery, Port Huron. Military rites will be under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Visiting will be from 3pm-9pm Monday and 10am until service time Tuesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice or Hospice.
